WGA LegitCheckControl.dll ver. 1.8.31.0 - CRACK RELEASED !!!
Hi,
So I saw quite a few post on the internet regarding a release of WGA v1.8.31.0 and everytime I tested the Microsoft Update site, it gave me v1.7.69.2, which made me wonder.. whats all this talk about this new release.
So I did a lil research to discover this:
If you are using Windows Update or Microsoft Update or Microsoft Download Center, all updates from these sites download WGA v1.7.69.2, which means that as far as "Online Validation" is concerned, Microsoft is still at the same version for their online downloads.

However, they have released the updated WGA Notifications Tool as on 8/26/2008, which is v1.8.31.0, and this is a standalone, offline installer which includes the updated versions for the files required for validation.

So, "IF" you use THIS installer, you will have the updated v1.8.31.0 installed, along with the bugging Notification Tool, "BUT" if you stick with the online updates, you will have the v1.7.69.2, WITHOUT the bugging Notification Tool from Microsoft on your systems.
PLEASE NOTE : These are TWO DIFFERENT UPDATES.
While KB892130 is for online validation, KB 905474 is a Notification Tool.
I am posting the cracked release for v1.8.31.0 now for those who have already used the offline, standalone installer to upgrade their WGA validation files. You can download it here or here.
You know what to do with this. :-)
For those who are new here and need help, read my previous post for usage instructions.
As always, I will request again to keep me posted on any change in the version of the original WGA files.

so basically, stick with the online updating thru web browser...
since if u switch to offline updating without web browser, u risk getting the symptoms described in the second link/article if ur windows is not genuine...nd btw, those symptoms seem pretty annoyin

I wouldn't say there is any restriction as to which method to use for getting updates, now that the crack is available for both. and anyways, whether you have the online activex installed or the offline installer, they both refer to the same site for getting the updates, so it hardly makes any difference. Feel free to use any version, just install this crack over it and you are good to go.
Regarding the page you are talking about, Yes, this is the same update in WGA, and, YES, I have taken care of it for you as you wanted me to, originally. :-)

Relax :) I wasn't being defensive, just explaining the difference between the two methods.
Personally, I still use the web updates through the activex installation of v1.7.69.2 and it works for me.
The notifications bit is indeed annoying, so I don't have that update installed, however, it existed before as well. And with this new release, MS has just modified it now to make it even more irritating. :)
Anyways, its fixed now. I tested it myself before posting it, coz a lot of my friends too use this. :)
I am working on a revision in the installer. Might re-release with the updated installer soon. :)

Hi. I'm using v1.7.69.2 'cause I do not want to install the WGA notifier.
But, the last version of the crack present on your site before the v1.8.31.0 is the v1.7.18.5. I do not find the v1.7.69.2 crack. Does it exists?

The latest patch worked on one PC the other now doesnt even lets me open the program dont know if its because i use the pacth before the nag screen or something like that
Please check if the anti-virus is disabled or not, it may be preventing the file execution.
Try disabling the anti-virus software, use to fresh copy of the file and run it, should work.
